COVID-19 Update: How You Can Help Our Families

As we navigate the uncertainty of COVID-19, Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Central PA (RMHC-CP) is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where families with hospitalized children can get better together.

Please continue reading for an update on how we are serving families and how you can help us continue to provide essential services during this health crisis.

Ronald McDonald House in Hershey

Ronald McDonald House in Hershey is open and will continue to keep families together and near the care and resources they need as long as we have the capacity to do so. We are working closely with our hospital partners to ensure a safe and sanitary environment that protects the health of families, employees, or others to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our programs, in our community and beyond. We have implemented recommended screening procedures with our families, staff, essential volunteers and critical mission vendors and are following recommended business safety guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) and also the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Volunteer Programs

Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the proactive decision to suspend our Guest Chef Program, Ronald McDonald House & Family Room Volunteers, our Baking and Lunch Programs, and our Hospitality Cart & Kiosk Services at our partner hospitals. All of these programs are primarily executed with volunteer support.

How You Can Help

Make a Financial Gift:

We will use these donations to purchase meals and other basic items for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey. By purchasing food and necessities ourselves, we will dramatically reduce the number of visitors and to our facilities, further reducing risk to families.

Feed Our Families:

We are committed to providing families with safe, fresh dinners seven days a week. Consider sending a catered meal from a local restaurant for families to enjoy after a long day at the hospital. Contact Alyssa Noel, Volunteer and Operations Manager at anoel@rmhc-centralpa.org to identify a date on which you could provide a catered meal for our families.

Visit www.rmhc-centralpa.org/donate and choose “General” or “Feed Our Families” as the category for your donation.

Gift Cards:

Gift cards enable our team to purchase warm meals, cleaning supplies, and other provisions for our families staying at our House each day while minimizing risk to families and staff. Gift cards can be sent directly to the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey at 745 West Governor Road, Hershey, PA 17033.

While we do not yet know how long these changes will remain in effect, we will continue to evaluate the impact of the situation on our organization as the health and safety of our families, volunteers, and employees remain our top priority.

We are incredibly grateful for your support which will help families focus on what’s most important: their children.
